10/5 STIG NOISE MMx + BARBEROS
10th may @ ZurMoebelFabrik: STIG NOISE MMX (uk) + BARBEROS (uk) + psychonautilus (d)
STIG NOISE, Stig Noise MMX- aka Stig, Stig Noise Sound System, Stig Of The Dump - has been an active creative musical outlet since around 1998. Managing to exist without plan or delusions other than to not to knowingly follow in the footsteps of majority, either musically or commercially. Their self recorded output ( a select handful of independent labels) and immense live shows ( 100s of shows through 15 countries) is an ongoing analysis of hooks and motivational sound, exploring and discovering ways to exist within the ever growing non commercial music, art and film orientated underground communities. Through self taught ways and an early introduction to the original beliefs attached to movements like D.i.y, No Wave, Hip Hop and Jazz mixed amoung the last 1000 years of music and a continued addiction to and exploration of all things curious, intense and instinctive, Stig Noise in 2010 is a collective of friends based in Liverpool, Northwest Uk . An oddball group of traveling and recording musicians ( also play with Big Dog Scary, Action Beat, Pariah Qarey, Fave Muslim, Monobrow, Barberos, Indica Ritual, a.P.A.t.T. , AM ER ICA NS,) together they make continually evolving noisy folksy hip hop experimental off the wall hook based music, both, Brutal(and/or) subtle in approach and delivery that has stood tall alongside legends like Daniel Johnston, Deerhoof, the Ex, and Dj Scotch Egg. (press info) note: we had stig noise last year playing at trickster and liked them so much that we are very happy to have them back!quotes:
"THIS IS THE UNDERGROUND MUTHAFUCKERS." drowned in sound
Barberos are four beards, 3'293'381'278'839 hairs, four drumsticks, 23 cables, four boys who met in liverpool, come from sheffield, milton keynes, wales, rome. After being involved with each other in various ways and various projects for two years they eventually came together fuelled by a passion for loud noises, hitting things and of course, spandex. After losing a valued member and friend (Ulysses Natan Alvarez) to a much brighter life in Berlin, the band has continued to write and play together as much as they possibly can. They are currently booking and attempting to play as many shows as humanly possible in as many different countries as possible. (press info) they have shared stages with chrome hoof, tim exile, and action beat.
quotes:
"I can't remember ever seeing a drumming performance as good as this. Time signatures, styles, rhythms... they were all over the place yet perfectly in sync. All accompanied by various meaty synth melodies. In addition to that, it's not very often that you come away from a gig commending the live visuals in particular but they were also spot on. Clearly well thought out and worked on as much as the music rather than a throwaway feature. It's hard to convey the Barberos live experience in a brief review because a large part of it is the 'what the fuck is going on' feeling that rushes over you. What they do is completely mad and experimental. But what comes across strongest is the fact that they are amazingly talented musicians with an in-depth understanding of how different genres can be brought together. This, I feel, is unique. Either you get experimental or you get technical ability, rarely both. Even the soundman looked impressed, Barberos were that good." aberzine
